GENESIS SPECIAL NEEDS
Sundays at 11:01, for birth-5th in JoyTown and for teens & adults in The Studio!
GENESIS SPECIAL NEEDS
OUR WORSHIP EXPERIENCE
Upon check-in at our 11:01 worship experience time, each parent/guardian will be required to fill out an application so we can get to know your child's needs and personality. We have electronic tickets/stickers for each individual and claim tickets to use in order to pick up each child. Safety is top priority! We will also send home a "Me In A Box" kit, so that each individual can return the following Sunday with pictures and small items from home to store in JoyTown for those moments of unease in a new environment
The birth through fifth grade experience meets on Sunday mornings at 9:29 a.m. in Joytown. Every part of the experience is designed to teach children about the love of Jesus Christ in a fun and engaging way. Joytown is equipped to accommodate a range of learning styles and communication modes using sensory tools, visual schedules and a variety of adaptive equipment. Sensory bins, craft stations and worship opportunities create a multidisciplinary approach to that day’s Bible lesson. Opportunities for inclusion and reverse inclusion with typical peers are offered regularly.
Teens and adults meet on Sunday mornings at 11:01 a.m. in Joytown. The teen and adult experience affords the opportunity for everyone to hear about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, no matter their cognitive or developmental abilities. Each aspect of the lesson supports the goal of teaching Biblical truths in an engaging, age-appropriate way. Spiritual goals are met using crafts, games, worship and small group time, each accommodated to individual needs.
Friday Night Shine
It is the mission of Friday Night Shine to provide adults, ages 23+, with intellectual and developmental disabilities with a safe, supportive, and exciting environment in which they can feel that they belong and have worth. We meet on the second and fourth fridays of each month for a time of fun, games, crafts, worship, and activities that are designed to teach biblical truths, develop life skills, and grow lasting relationships with both peers and leaders. Staff and volunteers model Christ’s unconditional love and acceptance as they walk alongside these adults — filling their lives with love and support.
Tallahassee Developmental Center
The Genesis Special Needs ministry believes the Gospel is for everyone, that is why we believe in going into the special needs community to live out this mission. Every other Sunday, we go to the Tallahassee Developmental Center to provide the adult residents with a live church experience. Similar to our Sunday morning special needs experience, this time is spent using games, crafts, and worship to teach about the powerful love of Jesus Christ.
As a church, we partner with Young Life Capernaum. Young Life Capernaum gives high-schoolers with intellectual and developmental disabilities the chance to experience fun and adventure, to develop fulfilling friendships and to challenge their limits while building self-esteem within a youth group setting.
Young Life staff and volunteers model Christ’s unconditional love and acceptance as they walk alongside these young adults — filling their lives with love and support. Capernaum gives teens and young adults with disabilities a chance to get out and have fun with peers and leaders in a Christ centered environment in which they can feel loved and accepted.
