What is Night To Shine?
A prom for people with special needs ages 14 and over, who will be our guests for the evening. Guests will be celebrated with a red carpet, crowns and tiaras, corsages and boutonnieres, limo rides, games, dancing, dinner, photo portraits and VIP treatment. The vision is to provide an unforgettable night full of faith, hope and love for the amazing people with special needs.

Who is invited to Night To Shine?
People with special needs ages 14 and over, including people with disabilities that may be physical, mental or psychological.
How can I help other than volunteering?
Night To Shine prom needs donations of prom dresses, decorations (balloons, streamers, banners, live flowers, white Christmas tree lights, electric candles), food (to serve approximately 400-450 ppl), supplies (tape, easels, white boards, poster board). We also need financial support and welcome all monetary donations. Please make donations payable to Genesis Church, with a designation for Night To Shine.
NEEDED VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
This is one of the most important jobs at the prom and one of our biggest needs! As an escort, you are responsible for taking one or two guests on your arm as you show them around prom. You’ll take them to get food, get their hair done, play games and of course, dance! It’s the job of the escort to ensure that no one is left stranded! We need mature (must be at least 16), patient, loving people to serve as escorts.
This team will oversee the traffic flow of guests and volunteers as they arrive and direct them to appropriate drop-off and parking areas. We’ll outfit you with reflective vests and light wands!
Volunteer Check In
You’ll greet and register our volunteers for all areas of service as they arrive to serve. Help them get checked in and to their assignment in an orderly and timely manner.
If you like to work behind the scenes, this is where you need to be! You’ll be responsible for taking guests’ coats and keeping them organized by number. At the end of the night, you’ll assist in passing them out.
Give the guests the red carpet treatment! You’ll be on the curb when guests arrive to assure their name tags are in place and connect them with an escort.
We’re looking for nurses, doctors, medical students, or anyone else in the medical field that would be willing to donate their time for our guests. You would be available if one of our guests has a medical need.
You’ll work during prom to respond to various needs of guests, volunteers and team leaders. This is command central, keeping everything running smoothly. Wear comfortable shoes because you will be traveling all over the facility as need arises.
We’re looking for people to help set and clear tables, serve food and, drinks and assist with clean-up after dinner is over.
This is for all you dancers out there. As a member of this team, you will spend the night dancing with our guests and making sure no one is left out. Also, this team has the honor of passing out gifts to our guests at the end of the night!
This team sets up and monitors the various locations where water is provided for prom attendants, then tears it down at the end of the evening. With all the dancing going on, you’ll be a hero!
Here, you’ll be running games, assisting the guests and giving them directions. Also, if you are interested in construction, we can use extra hands to help in the assembly of props and decorations that go along with the games.
Be a part of the team that gives them a permanent memory of the evening. Formal portraits will be taken, processed and printed out on site where the guests will then receive their final print.
This room will be specifically designated for the caregivers of the guests. We will create a warm and comfortable area for them to relax, be pampered and served. We need massage therapists to volunteer a couple of hours, as well as volunteers who would like to be food servers.
When the party is over, it’s your time to shine! You’ll help get everything cleaned up and back in order for the weekend services. With all hands on deck, we’ll finished in no time.
